Three Days to Step Away, Create Freely, and Reconnect with God

Escape the Demands, Discover Your Artistic Voice, Encounter God: An Isle of Wight Creative Retreat for Christian Women

25–28 September 2026

Life demands so much. Between work, family, and everything else, your creativity gets pushed aside. But what if you could step away for three nights, reconnect with your artistic voice, and encounter God in a way that feels fresh and alive again? This intimate retreat on the Isle of Wight is designed for Christian women who are ready to invest in themselves—to create without pressure, explore beautiful landscapes, and rediscover the joy of making art as a spiritual practice. Leave Monday morning restored, inspired, and reconnected to both your creativity and your faith.

Hi, I'm Bev and This is
Why I Created This Retreat

The Burnout & The Breakthrough

For many years I was caring for children, supporting loved ones with mental health struggles, working, juggling responsibilities, giving out constantly—and slowly running dry. I became disconnected from God without even noticing it, simply because life was so full. Creativity became a lifeline back to Him. When I doodled, prayed on the page, asked Him questions or let colour flow, His presence felt close again. Scripture came alive. My heart softened. Peace returned.

My Story: How Art Journaling Changed Everything

I discovered art journaling at 43 during a Christian family retreat. I wandered into a workshop where someone showed how prayer, scripture, colour and creativity could all live together on the pages of a single journal—and something inside me shifted. I'd been a Christian since the age of 18, but I had never experienced God in such a gentle, intimate, expressive way before. I went home and created my first prayer art journal, and my walk with God hasn't been the same since.

Why I Created This Retreat

That's why I'm passionate about helping women experience the same. I believe every woman is creative—not because of talent, but because we're made in the image of the Creator. When we stop comparing, release perfectionism, and show up with openness, we hear God more clearly than we expected. I've run creative workshops online and in person for women, teens and churches, and I've hosted retreats here on the Isle of Wight where women arrived burnt out, grieving or spiritually weary—and left rested, lighter, and reconnected with God..

A Sacred Close with Worship
I've been married to my husband, Adam, for over 30 years. We met at university when he was playing guitar at the Christian Union, and his gentle worship has been part of our family life ever since. On Sunday evening, as we gather for our closing meal, prayer and reflection circle, Adam will lead us in peaceful acoustic worship—creating a sacred, prayerful atmosphere where you can settle deeply into God's presence and carry that peace home with you.

My Prayer for You

More than anything, I pray you leave this retreat with renewed peace, fresh confidence in hearing God, and a joyful excitement about using creativity as a natural, life-giving way to walk closely with Him—and share Him with others.

The Weekend Awaits: Your Day-by-Day Experience.

Friday Evening: Welcome and Your First Creative Moment.

Arrive at your creative sanctuary on the Isle of Wight from 4 PM onwards.

After settling into your room, we'll gather for a welcome dinner together at 6:30 PM.

Then at 8 PM comes the magic—an evening introduction to the Spirit-Led Sketch Method.

You'll explore how to listen to God's prompting as you create, work with gold paint and Klimt-inspired techniques, and discover that creating doesn't require perfection, just presence.

We'll wrap up by 10 PM so you can rest well. By Friday's end, you'll feel welcome, inspired, and ready for the weekend ahead.

Saturday:

Immerse, Explore, Create

Breakfast together at 8 AM to fuel up.

At 9 AM, step into your main creative workshop—"Creating with Intention." You'll work with a beautiful still life of flowers, creating a piece on watercolour paper guided by your own inspiration and God's prompting.

Discover how to weave scripture, gold paint accents, and Klimt-inspired botanical techniques into your work. This immersive session runs until around 12:30 PM, giving you time to create without pressure and explore your emerging artistic voice.

Lunch together at 1 PM.

Then at 2:30 PM you'll head to Priory Bay, a stunning coastal haven. Spend the afternoon photographing landscapes, sketching in your journal, and letting the beauty of the sea and cliffs inspire your creative eye.

Return around 5 PM.

Dinner at 6:30 PM.

Evening gathering at 8 PM where you'll share what you've created and discovered, connecting your artistic journey to spiritual themes.

Wrap by 10 PM.

Sunday: Savour, Reflect, and Carry the Beauty Home

Breakfast together at 8 AM. At 9:30 AM, a gentle morning devotional and prayer time—gathering together, reflecting on the weekend, and listening for what God has been speaking through your creativity.

At 11 AM, head out to Osborne House gardens for a final morning of inspiration. You'll bring a packed lunch to enjoy together on the grounds, with time to explore, sketch, photograph the beauty, and maybe treat yourselves to an ice cream by the beach there.

Return around 3 PM for afternoon tea—homemade scones and cream teas prepared for you.

At 4 PM, your final creative session—using your photographs and sketches, you'll create a watercolour landscape or botanical piece, weaving in hand-lettered scripture.

At 6 PM, gather for evening meal together at 7 PM, then a closing prayer and reflection circle where you'll share what God has spoken to you this weekend.

Depart Monday morning refreshed, restored, and reconnected, with your artwork, memories, and Osborne House postcards in hand.

Questions You Might Be Asking

Do I need to be a confident artist to attend?

Not at all. This retreat isn't about creating gallery-worthy art—it's about exploring your creativity without pressure and listening to God through the creative process. We'll guide you through every workshop step by step, and you'll discover that creating is far less about skill and far more about presence. Many of our participants say they've never painted before, and they leave with artwork they're genuinely proud of.

I’m coming alone. Will I feel awkward?

You won't be alone for long. Many women attend on their own, and by Friday evening's first creative session, you'll feel part of a warm, welcoming circle. We're intentional about building community from day one. You'll eat together, create together, and share your stories. By Sunday, you'll have made genuine connections with women who understand your creative and spiritual journey.

Is the accommodation basic or luxurious?

The venue is beautifully appointed with character and comfort. Bedrooms are individually styled with exposed beams and natural light. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, and the communal spaces are warm and inviting—perfect for both creative work and rest. It's not five-star hotel luxury, but it's a genuinely lovely, well-cared-for space designed to make you feel held and inspired.

What's the cancellation and refund policy?

We understand life happens. If you need to cancel more than eight weeks before the retreat, you'll receive a full refund minus a £50 administration fee. Cancellations within eight weeks are non-refundable, though you're welcome to transfer your place to someone else. If we need to cancel the retreat for any reason, you'll receive a full refund.

Do I need to bring my own art materials?

No. We provide all creative materials—quality watercolour paper, paints, brushes, gold leaf, sketchbooks, and everything you need for the workshops. Just bring yourself, an open heart, and a willingness to create.

What's the group dynamic like? Will I know people?

The group is limited to ten women, creating real intimacy and connection. Some participants may know each other, but many come as complete strangers. By the end of the weekend, you'll feel genuinely connected to each woman there. We intentionally weave togetherness throughout—shared meals, group workshops, evening reflections. It's a supportive, non-judgmental space where everyone's creative voice is honoured.

Is this retreat suitable if I'm feeling anxious, overwhelmed, weary or spiritually dry?

Absolutely. In fact, this retreat is designed for exactly this season. Stepping away from daily demands, creating without pressure, and encountering God through art is deeply restorative. There's no pressure to have it all figured out spiritually. You're welcome exactly as you are—tired, uncertain, searching, or doubting. Many women find that creative expression opens doors when words feel impossible.

I haven't been to church for a while. I'm not part of a church community at all. Is this retreat for me?

Yes. This isn't a theology lecture or a church service. It's a sacred creative space for Christian women at any point in their faith journey. Whether you're reconnecting with your faith, exploring it for the first time, or somewhere in between, you're welcome. The focus is on listening to God through creativity, not on doctrine or belief perfection.

What's the spiritual level of the retreat? Do I need deep faith knowledge?

There's no prerequisite faith level. We're not teaching theology—we're creating space for you to encounter God through art and reflection. If you're new to faith or returning after a long time away, you'll find it accessible and nourishing. If you're deeply rooted in faith, you'll find it spiritually deepening. Everyone's welcome.

What's the weather like in late September on the Isle of Wight?

September on the Isle of Wight is beautiful—usually mild, around 15-18degrees Celsius. Bring layers, a light jacket, and comfortable walking shoes for our beach and garden visits. It can be breezy by the coast, so a windproof layer is handy. Mostly you'll experience lovely autumn light, perfect for sketching and photography. We can also see the sunset in th evenings.

Will there be time for quiet alone time, or is it fully scheduled?

We've built in breathing space throughout the weekend. After workshops, you'll have free time to sketch, rest, or simply be. Mornings start gently, and there's downtime between activities. This isn't a relentless schedule—it's designed to feel spacious and restorative alongside the creative work. If at any point you need solitude, you're welcome to take a walk in the beautiful woodland area nearby, spend time in your own room, or simply step away. Your creative and spiritual rhythm matters, and we honour that.

Can I request dietary requirements or accessibility needs?

Yes, absolutely. When you book, we'll ask about dietary requirements, allergies, and any accessibility needs so we can make sure everything is catered for. Please be as detailed as you need to be—we want you to feel fully supported.

How does Creative Sanctuary membership work after the retreat?

Your three months free membership begins from the moment you complete your payment—giving you time to connect with the community before, during, and after the retreat. You'll have access to our online community, monthly teaching videos on the Spirit-Led Sketch Method, prayer resources, art journalling prompts, and connection with other creative Christian women. After three months, membership continues at £27 per month if you choose, but there's no pressure. Many women find the community so nourishing they stay, but it's entirely your choice. Think of those three months as your chance to experience what it's like to be part of this growing community we're building together.
